MacRory’s three goals not enough to save lacrosse Marauders


Rebounding from a three-point deficit, the Brock Badgers defeated the McMaster Marauders 12-5 in Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association play.

Kevin MacRory opened the game with his first of three goals at 14:26. The Marauders finished the first quarter up by two after Michael Dawson chipped in a point at 13:30.

Kyle Dorosh assisted Carter Williams with his third goal of the season, kicked off the second quarter to give the visiting Marauders a 3-0 lead.

The Badgers then went on a scoring spree that not only wiped out their three-point deficit, it put them up by three goals.

MacRory tossed in his second with a minute and a half remaining in the half to send the two teams into the break with Brock up 6-4.

The third quarter was all Brock as they scored four times, including two by middle Kyle Davis.

Brock scoring leader Matt Evans opened the fourth quarter scoring at 13:04 and Mike Lum Walker netted the Badgers’ final goal at 7:42. MacRory rounded out the game with his eighth goal this season with less than five minutes of play remaining.

Dorosh picked up three points in the CUFLA rankings for his three assists.

For Brock the leading scorers were Roscoe Smith with three goals and Evans with two goals and two assists.

McMaster drops to 1-2 on the season, as Brock picks up its first win.

The Marauders return home Wednesday (Sept. 29) to play the CUFLA West division leading Guelph Gryphons (4-0) at 8:30 p.m. on Alumni Field.
