Despite the McMaster Marauders scoring three straight goals in the first quarter, the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association leading Guelph Gryphons clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit for a 6-4 win at Alumni Field.
Guelph’s Curtis Knight struck first for the Gryphons but back-to-back goals from Kevin MacRory, Kyle Dorosh and Micheal Dawson gave McMaster a 3-1 lead after the first quarter.
Cam Murphy added McMaster’s fourth goal at 16:34 in the second, but that was all the scoring action McMaster would see. Guelph went on to score twice in the second and three times in the remaining half to take the game for their fifth win against no losses.
The Marauders drop to 1-3 on the season. Mac remains at home this weekend to host Laurentian at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2.
