Hallwent skaters advance to 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals

Local skaters, representing clubs from the Hallwent region, advanced to the 2011 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals which take place Jan. 17–20 in Victoria, BC.

In the Senior Women’s section, Rylie McCulloch-Carsarsa of Burlinton placed eighth to advance. In Junior Pairs, Aveline Pearso of Hamilton Figure Skating Club and partner Alexander Sheldrick of Kitchener/Waterloo FSC had a fourth placing showing.

In Junior Dance, Abby Carswell of Scarboro and Andrew Doleman of Wentworth advanced after placing 15th.

A third-place standing earned Leah Hyslop of Flamboro and Bob Goodwin of Preston a ticket to Victoria in the Novice Pair section.

The following Pre-Novice skaters competed for the title of Pre-Novice Champion of Canada. (This category does not continue.) Pre-Novice Women skater Sela Felker of Hamilton was 13th, Emma Bonfiglia of Burlington was 17th, while Keiko Marshall placed 33rd.

In Pre-Novice Dance, Katrina Jeromkin of Exeter and partner Jean-Luc Jackson of Hamilton were 30th.

The following skaters competed but didn’t advance.

In Senior Women, Burlington’s Anastasia Gasbarrini was 17th while Meghan Dwyer, also from Burlington, was 31st. In Junior Women, Elizabeth LiaoKelsey of Burlington was 22nd while Kelsey Sobkowich also from Burlington was 31st.

Taylor Hunsley, Burlington, placed 21st in the Novice Women’s section and Louise Hains, Hamilton, and Kalim Schieck of Springbank were 21st in Novice Dance.
