McMaster’s third-year swimmer Alex Parent (Fort Francis, Ont.), one of Canada’s newest National team members, had a fourth, fifth and sixth place finish at the CAN\AM Para-Swimming Championship held in Etobicoke this past weekend.
Parent swam and placed in the 100-metre backstroke, the 200m individual medley, and the 50m freestyle respectively.
The best para-athletes throughout North America were competing with national teams from France, Japan, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, and Sweden.
Coach Andrew Cole commented, “Alex is one of those athletes who has a tremendous work ethic and desire to improve. He has a fantastic attitude and just working with him over the weekend was itself a privilege.
“The work he has done at McMaster is now being recognized by the National Team coach as well. Alex has a bright future ahead of him.”
