Dupont scored a power-play goal at 3:22 to give the Whale a 2-1 lead. Weise dished the puck across the ice to Kris Newbury, who then fed the puck to the left side of the net. Dupont tapped the puck past Sanford and into the back of the net.
The ‘Dogs tied the game 2-2 at 4:33 of the final frame. Ryan Russell stripped the puck off a Connecticut player before racing in alone on a breakaway. Russell used a forehand-to-backhand deke before depositing the puck behind Grumet-Morris and into the net.
