Mac track teams run for bronze at OCA

The McMaster men’s 4×200 metre and 4x800m track relay teams each won bronze medals on the second day of the 2011 Ontario University Athletics championship on Saturday.

The 4x200m team ran a time of 1:30.6724 to earn bronze. Jimmy Tat (Oakville) ran the opening leg followed by Matt Pawelke (Waterdown), Scott Hutchinson (Drumbo) and Rudy Baronette (Hamilton) who ran the anchor leg to solidify the medal finish for the Marauders.

The Ottawa Gee Gees ran a 1:30.6778 for fourth beaten by a fraction of a section by McMaster.

Joined by Denis Noronha (Mississauga), Baronette, Tar and Hutchinson all returned for the 4×400. In the final event of the championship the Marauders ran 3:22.38 to secure the second McMaster medal of the day.

Overall the McMaster women placed seventh and the men placed ninth.
