Three Hamilton FC PDL players are in Richmond, Virginia for trial opportunities with the Richmond Kickers professional soccer club. Scott McCoubrey, William Grocott and Stephen Powell earned the opportunity based on their solid play for HFC this season.
“Scott was our leading goal scorer this season,” said HFC Head Coach, Brett Mosen. “He is a natural leader and a very talented player. Both Will and Stephen have been impressive this season also. Each of these boys has been attached to profile clubs back in the UK. They are committed lads with a desire to succeed, and it’s up to them to prove to the coaching staff at Richmond they can play at the next level.”
The three HFC players will spend three days being evaluated by the Richmond coaching staff during first team training sessions beginning on Tuesday.
“We look forward to evaluating Scott, Will and Stephen with a view to short and long-term opportunities within our squad,” Richmond Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw said. “Brett Mosen is well respected and we value his extensive knowledge of all levels of USL play. We look forward to strengthening our ties to Hamilton FC in the future.”
“This is a great opportunity for us,” said McCoubrey. “On behalf of the three of us, I’d like to thank Brett and the Hamilton FC organization for making this opportunity possible for us.”
