Team Hamilton departs Tuesday (Aug. 2) for Lanarkshire, Scotland to participate in the 45th International Children’s Games. The games run from August 3 to 8 and are the biggest youth sporting event in the world.
Team Hamilton 2011 will compete with over 75 cities from around the world in soccer, athletics and swimming.
The head of the Hamilton delegation is Ed Dunn with Mark Wu coaching girl’s soccer, Leanne McConnell coaching swimming and George Kerr coaching this year’s athletic team. The team is compromised of athletes from Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Dundas, and Flamborough.
Since Hamilton’s participation in 1989, its athletes have been very successful including this past year’s winter games in Kelowna, BC when Team Hamilton won the gold medal in girl’s hockey.
