The Hamilton Minor Peewee Cardinals are now two games over .500 with a 20-6 victory over the Tier 2 Guelph Royals in Inter-County Baseball Association play.
Starting pitcher David Candy recorded the win, giving up two unearned run, and one hit over three innings. He walked two and struck out two. Noah Britt finished the game giving up four runs – 2 earned – on five hits.
Offensively, the Cardinals took advantage of 14 walks from a quartet of Guelph pitchers while recording nine hits. Michael Ssemanda got things started in the first with a lead-off home run, going 3-for-4 on the night with four runs scored. Britt hit a double while going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Justin Jeffrey and Josh Miller-Koren both drove in 3 runs, with Ty Whalen and Shane Samson each getting two RBI.
The Cardinals look to improve their record against the first place Royals on Thursday night.
