Bulldogs finish pre-season in Drummondville with win

The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Binghamton Senators 4-3 on Saturday night in their final pre-season game at Centre Marcel-Dionne in Drummondville, Quebec. Brian Willsie scored the game-winning goal with 18.9 seconds remaining in the game.

The Senators opened the game’s scoring at 4:08 of the first frame. Corey Cowick carried the puck towards the net before using a backhand shot to flip the puck over Hamilton starting goaltender Robert Mayer.

The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at 11:33 of the opening period. Philip DeSimone deked past a couple Senators defenders before backhanding a shot past the glove of Binghamton starting goaltender Mike McKenna. Josh McFadden gave Hamilton a 2-1 lead at 14:45. McFadden grabbed a loose puck in front of the Senators net before releasing a wrist shot that beat McKenna low. The ‘Dogs took a 3-1 lead at 17:46 while on the power play. Gabriel Dumont received the puck from Joonas Nattinen before backhanding a shot into the top corner of the net.

Binghamton made the game 3-2 at 16:11 of the middle frame. Bobby Raymond fired a shot towards the net. Jim O’Brien grabbed the loose puck before tapping it between the legs of Mayer.

The Senators tied the game 3-3 at 12:15. Kyle Reeds received the puck from David Dziurzynski before rifling a shot that sailed through traffic and into the net, just under the crossbar.

The ‘Dogs scored at 19:41 of the third frame with a power play marker. Brock Trotter dished a pass to Willsie, who blasted a one-time shot that sailed past the glove of McKenna and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs will open their 2011-2012 season at home on Saturday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum against the Rochester Americans.
