The Albany Devils defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 at Times Union Center on Saturday night. Darcy Zajac scored the game-winning goal while Jeff Frazee made 21 saves for the win.
The Devils opened the scoring at 13:28 of the first period on a goal by Joe Whitney. Nathan Perkovich slid a pass to Whitney in the slot who snuck past some Bulldogs defenders and one-timed a shot past Hamilton starting goalie Robert Mayer.
Albany extended their lead by two on a tally by Mike Sislo at 14:24 of the middle stanza. Sislo dove and went flying through the air and backhanded the airborne puck under Mayer and in the net.
The Bulldogs got on the board on a goal by Olivier Fortier at 8:18 of the final frame. After winning a faceoff in the neutral zone, Fortier took a long shot on the devils net and the puck bounced around before going in the net past Albany starting goaltender Jeff Frazee.
The Devils increased their lead on a goal by Darcy Zajac at 14:09 of the third period. Vladimir Zharkov passed the puck to Zajac on a two-on-one and Zajac wired a shot past Mayer.
The ‘Dogs added another goal at 17:32 of the final stanza on a power play goal by Garrett Stafford. Dany Masse dropped a pass to Stafford who ripped a slapper by Frazee inside of the near goalpost.
The Bulldogs return to Copps Coliseum to play six-straight games at home when they face the Abbotsford Heat on Sunday, October 30th at 3:00 P.M.
