Mohawk looking for first win at tourney


The Mohawk men’s volleyball team saw its record slip to 0-3, with a pair of defeats Tuesday (Jan. 3) at the TimberTown Invitational Tournament at Mount Royal University in Calgary.

The Mountaineers fell in four sets to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology from Calgary, 21-25, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25.

Mohawk then bowed in a real see-saw affair with the College of the Rockies, from B.C., 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 27-29, 7-15.

The Mountaineers meet Briercrest College of Saskatchewan Wednesday (Jan. 4).

Mohawk opened tournament play dropping a 3-0 decision to Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

The annual TimberTown Invitational draws 12 teams, including the host Mount Royal side. The playoffs are Wednesday afternoon.
