Windsor – The McMaster women’s basketball team visited the No. 2 Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night in their first Ontario University Athletics game since the break. Taylor Chiarot (Hamilton) scored a team-high 17 points for McMaster in the 67-58 loss.
Down by just five in the first period by a score of 19-14, the Marauders allowed the Lancers to pull away in the second quarter, ending the half with the home team up 37-25. McMaster outscored the reigning OUA and Canadian Interuniversity Sports champions in the third quarter, 18-14, narrowing the gap but the Lancers were too much for the visiting Marauders.
Chiarot’s 17 points were accompanied by Hailey Milligan’s (Brantford, Ont.) double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Lancers, Jessica Clemencon scored 22 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Korissa Williams added another 11 points and nine rebounds for the home team.
The Marauders host the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday (Jan. 7) at 1 p.m.
