Mohawk out to end tourney on positive note

The Mohawk women’s basketball team suffered an 82-43 loss at the hands of Algoma University on Saturday (Jan. 7) at the 4th Annual Vikings Women’s Basketball Tournament in Kingston.

Rachelle Abella had 10 points for the Mountaineers while Daniella Randazzo had nine and Megan Campbell contributed eight rebounds.

“We just played a poor game all together,” said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy.

“We shot poorly and had too many breakdowns on defence. If we are going to improve in the second half (of Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play) we need to be more consistent both mentally and physically. We play Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and hope to end the tourney on a winning note”

Abella scored 24 points and added nine rebounds as Mohawk opened play at the St. Lawrence tourney with a 68-51 win over the Georgian Grizzlies of Barrie on Friday (Jan. 6).
