Hamilton AC is looking for its first win of the season in men’s Major League Water Polo.
Hamilton fell 10-6 to the Toronto Golden Jets, playing their first game of the new campaign. The loss on Jan. 23 was Hamilton’s third following a 15-11 defeat to the Toronto Mavericks on Jan. 22.
Hamilton had staked itself to a 3-1 lead after one quarter but AC found itself trailing 5-4 at the half against the Jets.
Scoring for Hamilton were Ted Bader, with three goals, Peter Goodacre, Tim Carr, and Jack Park. Jamie Earl had five goals to fuel the Jets.
The previous night, a seven goal jump in the first quarter was too much for Hamilton AC to overcome in losing to the Toronto Mavericks.
Hamilton found itself trailing 8-3 after the initial period but closed the gap top 8-6 after two quarters. However, the Mavericks scored five more goals in the third quarter to lead 13-8 to start the final period,
Hamilton did manage to outscore the opposition 3-2 in the last quarter but it was too little too late.
Hamilton got a three-goal effort from Jack Park with two goals apiece coming from Ted Bader and Graham Park. Peter Goodrace, Jeff Brown, Jack Tang, and Derek Sardo had singles. Top scorer for the Mavericks was Vladislav Andreyev with eight.
With the trio of losses Hamilton is last in the league’s three-team Ontario Division and last overall in the eight-team league. The club has a full schedule on the weekend playing a doubleheader at home to the Quebec Division’s 1-0 Dollard Devils and the 3-1 CAMO Roadrunners on Saturday (Jan. 28). On Sunday they have a return date with the Golden Jets.
