Gold medal is stepping stone for MVC 17U volleyball team

The Mountain Volleyball Club 17U Girls team won the Gold medal at the 18U McGregor Cup – Trillium A held in Hamilton.

The MVC team placed second in the pool round winning straight sets over the Guelph Grizzlies, 25–16, 25–19, and losing to the Burlington Blaze Red, 23–25, 20–25.

In the quarterfinals, MVC came from behind to defeat the Titans, 20–25, 25–23, 15–11. The Hamilton squad advanced to the final defeating TCA London, 25–19, 20–25, 15–11. In the Gold medal match MVC 17U defeated the Oakville Thunder Blue, 17U 25–22, 25–18.

The MVC 17U team will move up to compete in the Championship 18U division.

The 17U coaches are Jos Nederveen of Dundas and Mike Fuchs of Glanbrook.
