Mountaineers chasing basketball gold

The Mohawk Mountaineers, who have not won a gold medal in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s basketball in exactly 40 years, will get a chance to sparkle on Saturday (March 3) in Ottawa. But they will have their hands full as they take on the three-time defending champion Humber Hawks in the title match at Algonquin College.

The Mountaineers jumped into a 9-2 lead and controlled the entire game en route to a 96-61 semi final victory over the Georgian Grizzlies of Barrie in semi-final play Friday. Manny Campbell was player of the game for Mohawk.

The Hawks advanced with an 82-61 decision over the Algoma Thunderbirds.

The gold medal match is scheduled to start at 6 pm.
