After winning the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time since 1972, the Mohawk Mountaineers have been seeded No. 4 for the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association Championship March 15-17 in Truro Nova Scotia.
The Mountaineers will open play against the fifth seeded Vanier Cheetahs on March 15, at 3 p.m.
The UNBC Timberwolves of Prince George B.C. are ranked number one. The remaining positions include the No. 2 Mount Royal Cougars of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, from Calgary; the No. 3 Indiens d’Ahuntsic Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec from Montreal; the No. 5 Vanier Cheetahs of RSEQ from St. Laurent, QC; the No. 6 St. Thomas Tommies of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association, from Fredericton; the No. 7 Mount St. Vincent University Mystics of the ACAA from Halifax; and the No. 8. Red Deer Kings of the ACAC from Red Deer, Alta.
The CCAA Championship Awards Banquet will precede the competition, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14. The competition begins Thursday, March 15 and runs through Saturday, March 17.
