MVC 13U brings back the silverware



Mountain Volleyball Club 13U Girls had an impressive performance winning a Silver medal at the 13U Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Championships on the weekend in Waterloo.

Seeded 29th heading into the 43-team championship tournament, MVC just missed out of the top 16 team tier and finished with the Silver medal in Tier 2.

MVC 13U finished second in their pool losing to Interclub, 25-14, 25-23, and went on to defeat the Orillia Suns, 25-13, 25-20, and Unionville VBC,18-25, 25-18, 15-9. In the re-seeded power pools, MVC kept up the attack defeating the Waterloo Tigers Black, 25-23, 25-1, and the Hamilton Smash, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11, in the quarter-finals.

In the semis, MVC pressed on defeating the Guelph Grizzlies, 25-20, 24-26,15-10. MVC fought a close match with the Niagara Rapids Blue losing 25-23, 22-25,14-16, to settle for the Silver medal.

The MVC 13U team is coached by Peter Stratford of Burlington and Denis Levesque of Hamilton.

MVC 13U team athletes include: Zofia Olejarz of Dundas, Christina Stratford of Burlington, Emily Arthur and Kate Keeting of Milton, Elisa Mejia, and Julia Perco of Stoney Creek, Khloe Mattiozzi, Meghan Burns, Felicia Malavolta, Meredith Elstone, and Isis Igwe of Hamilton.
