Following the initial announcement of a stellar group of defensive recruits who have committed to don the Maroon and Grey, the McMaster football program is excited to unveil some new additions to the complement of players making the decision to become Marauders in 2012.
Nine more players are joining the 14 who previously announced their Marauder intentions to make up an impressive group of recruits who will challenge returnees for playing time and provide outstanding depth for the defending Vanier Cup champions.
With a healthy stock of returning players, McMaster head coach Stef Ptaszek says the focus of 2012 recruiting has been more about quality than quantity,
“There are some great play-makers both offensively and defensively in this group, some very exciting and talented young men, and we can’t wait to start working with them on the field.”
Assistant head coach and Offensive Coordinator Jon Behie emphasizes the quality of this year’s commits, adding, “These are the right kind of players in every sense. They are terrific students as well as being outstanding football players.”
The Marauder staff remains involved with several talented players who have yet to finalize their post-secondary plans, so the 2012 recruiting class may yet have some additions in the coming weeks.
The most recent additions include: Wide receiver Aaron-Mitchell Baker, Markham St. Brother Andre high school; wide receiver Jamahll Charles, Ottawa Franco Cite; slotback Declan Cross, Oakville Holy Trinity; running back David Hazell, Hamilton Bishop Ryan; quarterback Alex Hill, Hamilton Cardinal Newman; defensive end Matt Jackson, Stoney Creek Orchard Park; wide receiver Ben Megarry, Burlington Nelson; quarterback Mark Sandell, Aurora St. Andrews; and wide receiver Josh Vandeweerd, Burlington Nelson.
