Joseph McLeod did all he could to give the Cardinals a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Mississauga North Baseball Association Tigers, who held off the Hamilton Cardinals, 3-2, on Wednesday (May 9) at Mohawk Sports Park.
McLeod got on base three times in the Central Ontario Baseball Association Major Bantam game for the Cardinals, including a fourth inning triple and a single in the sixth inning. The Tigers scored all their runs in the first inning from a passed ball and two singles.
Cardinal starter Colin Harold pitched a strong 4 1/3 innings, surrendering five hits and striking out four. Jordan McNeil pitched an excellent 2 2/3 innings with no runs to hold the Tigers at bay.
The Cardinals faced a 3-1 deficit after pushing across one run in the bottom of the fourth. An RBI single by Ken Coleman gave the Cards their first run. Their second score came in the seventh inning. McNeil delivered the one-scoring single to bring the Cardinals within one.
