Championship dates set for Cal Ripken leagues
Hamilton area Cal Ripken Baseball Leagues in Binbrook, East Hamilton / Stoney Creek and North Hamilton will run year-end City Championship tournaments for all Cal Ripken T-Ball (4-7), Rookie (8-9) and Major 12U teams.

Stoney Creek Optimist Little League (SCOLL) has now started excepting late registrations for the 2008 baseball season. Children ages four to 15 are eligible to enroll to play T-Ball to Junior Ball.

Battlefield Babe Ruth Baseball is adding two charted leagues for 2008. The Eva Rothwell Resource Centre at Robert Land joins the North America baseball program to return organized baseball to the North End; youth baseball also returns to Binbrook.

Colin Buckborough of Niagara Falls combined with Phillippe Aumont of Gatineau and Ryan Kennedy of Calgary to hold Venezuela to one run on two hits as the Canadian Junior National Baseball Team won 3-1 at the America's World Junior Qualifying tournament.

Thunderbirds gearing for 2008, tryouts continue Saturday
The 2007 World SANDLOTT Champion Canadian Thunderbirds Elite Baseball Club will be continuing Hamilton tryouts for their elite teams on Saturday, August 18, 2007. Tryouts will also be conducted throughout the month of August in additional locations.

Elite baseball players in various age categories are invited to a number of tryout camps this week. The Champion Canadian Thunderbirds are holding tryouts for players 12 to 18 years old; the Bullett Proof Prospects are holding tryouts in Welland.

Stoney Creek's Babe Ruth Blaze rule the Niagara Frontier League
The Canada Blaze's 6-2 upset of North Tonawanda gave the only Canadian team in the 16-and under Niagara Frontier League the championship. And that was no easy challenge, considering North Tonawanda had lost only one game all season.
