Generals outlast Steelhawks in ACH


ACH logoStoney Creek and Hamilton faced off Saturday night (Dec. 3) in Allan Cup Hockey action at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena and the teams produced 12 goals on 95 shots with the Generals taking the game 7-5. For the Steelhawks, Kevin Rebelo had a pair of goals while Rob Vanwynsberghe and Jamie Williams each had a goal and an assist.

Stoney Creek started the scoring 2:45 into the game on the power play but Vanwynsberghe would respond just over a minute later to tie the game at one while shorthanded. The Generals scored three of the next four goals in the opening period with Rebelo scoring his first of the game.

The game settled down in the second when only one goal was scored by Hamilton to make it a one goal game thanks to Williams who scored from Mitch McCrank and Steven Trojanovic on the power play.

Unfortunately for the Steelhawks, Stoney Creek would come out and score three goals in the first 4:05 of the third to put the game out of reach. Kyle McQuade and Rebelo would get Hamilton back into the game with goals at the 6:23 and 16:07 marks of the period.

The next action for the Steelhawks is Friday night (Dec. 9) when they travel to Brantford to face the Blast for the first time this season. The following night Hamilton will host the Dundas Real McCoys at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena. Game time both nights is 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item and/or a new unwrapped toy for the Hamilton Steelhawks’ second annual food and toy drive to the Saturday night home game.
