Mohawk men win, women lose in volleyball

Mohawk bounced back from its home court loss to Redeemer last week, with a 3-0 victory over the Humber Hawks in men’s volleyball in Etobicoke Thursday (Dec. 1). Alas, the Mohawk women didn’t fare as well, losing in three sets to the Hawks.

The men’s scores were 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Eric Girard had 11 kills and one stuff block for the Mountaineers. Trevor McLaughlin had nine kills and two service aces. Chris Spack had 33 assists.

Clayton Blanchette was tops for the Hawks with seven kills, one ace and two blocks.

Mohawk improved to 7-1 on the season, while Humber dropped to 5-2.

In the women’s game, Humber swept their guests 25-18, 25-11, 25-16.

Kirsten Bialachowski led the way for the Mountaineers with five kills and one ace. Yvonne Mann produced 10 assists and Alessandra Assaf had 10 digs.

Devan O’Connor had ten kills, three aces and two blocks for the Hawks.

Mohawk had its four game win streak stopped and is now 5-3. Humber remains undefeated at 7-0.
