The Masters of rowing pick St. Catharines for 2010
St. Catharines will host the 2010 FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta. FISA, the governing body for international rowing, announced the 2010 location at its recent meetings in Munich, Germany.

Canada's men's eight crew, including Oakville's Doug Csima, advanced to the semifinals after placing third in their heat at the opening of the 2007 FISA World Rowing Under 23 Championships yesterday (Friday) in Strathclyde, Scotland.

Oakville's Adam van Koeverden rebounded from a disappointing showing at the recent world championships to claim the overall men's kayak crown in the World Cup paddling circuit. Burlington's Mark Oldershaw finished third overall in the canoe division.

Larissa Lagzdins has been named to Canada's team for this year's World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Also named to the Canadian team and who will row with Lagzdins in the women's eights is Kerry Maher of Welland.

Rower Bujas tests Swiss course in key regatta
Grimsby's Jeff Bujas is looking for gold in the Swiss Alps. The member of the St. Catharines Rowing Club is one of two Canadians in the Lucerne World Cup's lightweight men's singles division which start July 7.

St. Mary's High School is in top form as its crews ready for this weekend's (June 2-4) Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association's 61st annual regatta.

Oakville's van Koeverden golden surprises at World Cup Kayak
Oakville's Adam van Koeverden is surprising even himself in the early stages of World Cup kayak competitions. His paddle was barely dry from a gold medal effort Saturday, when he turned around and won the 1,000 K-1 event Sunday.
