Trio of cage recruits excite Marauders' coach
McMaster's basketball Marauders have added some "home grown" talent to their roster for the 2008-09 Ontario University Athletics season. Cam Michaud (Grimsby) and Jordan Tew (Dundas) will wear the maroon and grey for coach Joe Raso.

McMaster women's basketball player Lindsay DeGroot has been nominated for the BLG Awards, honouring Canada's best university athletes for the 2007-2008 season. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on Monday, April 28th in Calgary.

McMaster University announced the Athletic Award winners at its 84th Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Thursday and for the first time divided the Male and Female athletes of the year award into team sport and individual sport winners.

First-team all-Canadian Lindsay DeGroot scored 20 points and fifth-year senior Chiara Rocca added 19 as the Ontario University Athletics' champions, and No.3-seeded, McMaster Marauders downed the tournament host.

McMaster Marauders' Tyrell Vernon has made the Ontario University Athletics' all-rookie team in the west division. He was the only Marauder to receive an all-star nod. The 6-1 graduate of St. Thomas More Knights averaged 30 minutes per game.

Mac men ranked No.2, women No. 6 for CIS volleyball title hunts
2 - the ranking of the McMaster Marauders men's volleyball team heading into this weekend's CIS championship. Prior to hosting the last two CIS Championships, the Marauders had not qualified for the tournament since 1994.
